Critical Issues survey shows improvement

Joe Ramos
By Joe Ramos
Associate Director

The 1999 Critical Issues Survey shows there has been significant improvement on all six of the original critical issues. In fact, on a Center-wide basis, there were 23 specific survey items that showed improvement since the first survey in 1997-98 and no items that got worse. With more help I know we can do even better.

Clearly the Critical Issues Program is making a difference with its three-prong approach of (1) providing feedback and awareness to management, (2) carrying out certain activities itself, and (3) working with our various advisory groups and other key people.

While the survey showed significant improvement, we realize there is still a long way to go to reach our commitment of making Dryden the very best it can be. Critical Issues will be working on the center-wide issues most needing improvement and with our various Codes on the items where a Code is significantly below the Center average.

Future articles will provide more details on the 1999 Critical Issues Survey. In the meantime you can read the DM3 minutes for briefings given there and you can check out the 1999 Critical Issues Survey results on the Dryden XNet.

If you have additional input, or better still, want to help the Critical Issues team optimize Dryden, please contact Louann Beu at ext. 7474, or stop by to see her in Building 4800, Room 2327.

I was particularly pleased to see "I am proud to work at Dryden" was the highest scoring question with an average response of 5.091 on a 6 scale and the 65.2 percent response rate ñ the best of any Critical Issues survey so far.

A big thank you to the 396 respondents ñ your input provides very important guidance to the Critical Issues Program and to Dryden management to focus our attention where we can have the most impact.
