Y2K presentation set for Aug. 18Natalie DavisSpecial to the X-Press With the year 2000 nearing, people are working to ensure they are ready for the Y2K bug. Dryden’s Year 2000 Project Manager Buddy Reckline has created a Dryden Y2K Web Page and welcomes calls pertaining to Y2K preparation. He also prepared a list for people to check their computers or other time sensitive equipment, such as clocks, microwaves and video-cassette recorders, so the equipment will not be impacted. A Y2K Awareness Day is scheduled for Aug. 18 in the ISF. A quick briefing and a question and answer opportunity are scheduled to provoke questions and inform people about what’s been done and where Dryden stands on Y2K issues. "I want people to be pro-active. People need to look at their desktops and double check to see what is compatible or not," said Reckline. Some of the attendees include Antelope Valley Hospital, Lockheed Federal Credit Union, Southern California Edison, Pacific Bell, Air Force Civil Engineering, Dryden Business Information Systems and the Y2K project managers from Dryden and the Air Force Flight Test Center. The Y2K event will not be on Dryden Television or video taped. |
