Peer Sponsor Program

The Critical Issues Implementation Team recently initiated a Peer Sponsor Program for new employees. The goal is to make the transition to Dryden more efficient and less stressful. This program includes a process where a Dryden employee who is familiar with the Center volunteers to become a peer sponsor to a new employee. A New Employee Orientation Checklist has been developed to assist the peer sponsor and the new employee.

Another goal is to obtain a peer sponsor for each organization at Dryden. The peer sponsor assists the new employee with a range of activities. Typical activities include giving the new employee a tour of the Center, familiarizing them with the services available through the Dryden Exchange and providing general information about the Center.

The New Employee Orientation Checklist is provided to the new Dryden employee during in-processing through the Human Resources Management and Development Office. The checklist is divided into four sections of responsibilities: Human Resources Discussion, Supervisor Discussion, Sponsor Discussion and General Information. Some of the topics include policies, area requirements, employee development, benefits and general information about Dryden, Edwards Air Force Base and the Antelope Valley.

Mentoring is not a new concept at Dryden. However, because this program is new to Dryden, Critical Issues participants are looking at ways to improve it. People who would like to learn more about the program, have comments or suggestions, or want to become a peer sponsor, contact the Human Resources Management and Development Office at extension 3104.
