NASA's high-flying ER-2 takes off from the airport in San Jose, Costa Rica, on July 6, 2005 to collect hurricane data during the Tropical Cloud Systems and Processes mission.

The NASA ER-2 airplane flew over hurricane Dennis as part of the Tropical Cloud Systems and Processes "TSCP" Mission. This 28-day field mission sponsored by NASA's Science Mission Directorate is studying the bursting conditions for tropical storms, hurricanes and related phenomena. The flight originated from TSCP's base-of-operations in San Juan Santa Maria airport in San Jose, Costa Rica.
