NASA SCA 905 Heads to KSC for Discovery's Final Ferry Flight NASA's Space Shuttle Carrier Aircraft No. 905 departed NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California April 10, 2012 for NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida in preparation for ferrying the retired space shuttle Discovery to its final destination - the National Air and Space Museum's Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy center adjacent to Dulles Airport near Washington D.C. Discovery would be mounted piggyback atop the highly modified Boeing 747, and make a low-altitude flyover over several iconic locations in the nation's capital before landing at nearby Dulles International Airport in suburban Chantilly, Va.
